Since January 2009 I'm professor at the Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, UPM, Spain. 

During 2005-2008 I'have been "Ramon y Cajal" tenure-track research fellow at the Industrial Engineering School, at the Technical University of Madrid (Universidad Politecnica de Madrid, UPM), Spain.

During years 2003-2004 I was with the University Carlos III of Madrid (UC3M), Spain, where I held an Associate Professor position at Department of Systems Engineering and Automation (ISA) of the Polytechnic School. 

Previously (2002) I've been working at the Universidad Politecnica of Madrid, Spain, on Learning Classifier Systems.

My Ph.D. thesis, which I defended in February 2001, concerned advanced search Techniques for Combinatorial Optimization Problems.

During winter 1995-96 I was guest at the University of Leiden, the Netherlands. I've been working within the ALP group, where I've been working on my thesis, concerning Constraint Logic Programming (CLP) and Genetic Algorithms (GAs), and their applications on Neural Networks training. In 1999 I've been back in the Netherlands, guest at the LIACS. (Leiden Institute for Advanced Computer Science), again in the ALP Group, working with Elena Marchiori. under the supervision of the head of the ALP group, prof.dr. Joost N. kok.

In summer 2007 I have been guest for a short time at the Free University of Amsterdam, working on robot cooperation within the Computational Intelligence Group", headed by prof. A.E. Eiben.
